What determines the price
We bill per source word. The final price depends on the language pair, the field and its terminology, the deadline, the file format, and how much text we've already translated for you. We always review the document before providing a price. We check the word count, repetitions, translation memory matches, and whether the content is even suitable for AI or requires a human translator. This ensures a fair price, and you don't pay for a level of rigor that a particular text doesn't require.
Repetitions and translation memory: how you save money
Documentation is a living, evolving entity, with multiple versions. The v1.1 manual differs from v1.0 by perhaps ten percent of the text, so why would you pay for the entire thing a second time? The translation memory detects everything we've already translated, and you pay a fraction of the price for those segments. Repetitions within a new document are also covered. The longer we work together, the more your translation memory grows, and the lower your subsequent invoices become. We describe how this works in practice on the How we work page.
Corrections after delivery
Feedback is part of the process, no problem. The price includes rounds of revisions after delivery. In practice, one is almost always sufficient to fine-tune the terminology to your preferences. If changes go beyond the original scope—for example, the source text has changed—we'll let you know directly before charging anything extra.
